In The Studio With Chafa Ghaddar

Lebanese artist Chafa Ghaddar’s practice considers the wall and its surface as sites of material, temporal and spatial transformation. Working across fresco, mural painting, drawing and mixed media, she brings historical painting techniques into a contemporary language, exploring the traces that accumulate through time, touch and memory.

In this studio visit, we join Chafa through the course of her working day—from movement and music in the morning to observation, touch and concentrated periods of creation—encountering the paintings, fragments, materials and ideas that populate her studio and inform her practice.
